Stent procedure cancelled today :’(

Husband was due to have a stent in a few days but now it’s been cancelled. Obviously we are devastated as it’s 90% Proximal LAD stenosis and we have a 4 month old at home. 38 years old, no risk factors or known causes to this ongoing issue but his last stent also proximal but slightly less than this build up was 4yrs ago, the build up has occurred in that time, drugs obviously have not stopped it and no risk factors to remove or reduce as he’s always been extremely healthy.

I know the NHS has a lot on its plate but it’s taken 3 months to get this procedure to almost happen and last time it was urgent also 90% and occurred in 3 weeks and we were told to cancel our honeymoon it was so urgent, (obviously the angiogram then confirmed the CT diagnosis was 100% correct back then), so what’s changed?

Everyone keeps saying hospitals are bad places right now but I frankly don’t see that changing at any point soon, is the risk of a heart attack at a young age better? He’s young and in good health except for this issue so I see a heart attack to more likely to lead to his demise than this virus and this virus risk is not going to disappear suddenly in 3 months. We are not in London but near papworth so thought he’d be seen in the nick of time. Don’t know what to make of it all & frankly I’m very upset they called us back within two hours of his CT in December to see cardiologist ASAP on Christmas Eve if it was never going to be considered urgent this time. All this extended stress for nothing it seems & no clinical explanation of why it is not urgent this time. I know we’re not the only ones but I just feel so down about it & given his good health he’s unlikely unlikely to need an extended stay in hospital.

Hi

This is not a lot of comfort but they have decided the Risk of one thing outweighs the Risk of the other. You have to work on the basis they know what they are doing.

I have lived with a 100% blocked RCA and a 95% blocked LAD before it was stented !!

Stay Safe and Take Care

How long did you live with a 95% stenosis before stent? He first reported breathlessness symptoms again back in January 2019 it’s text book of what happened in 2016 although he obviously hoped it was anxiety this time... 15 months counting for an angiogram with view to stent & now an unknown delay. When does someone’s luck run out I feel we’ve been pretty patient thinking he’s been lucky so far but the more time he lives with this amount of stenosis the more likely something will happen. I personally don’t think they have weighed up the risk properly for someone they could get in and out of hospital for a stent very quickly now.
