Gone back into AF

Hi I recently had an ablation about 4 wks ago. And initially it worked. I came out of AF and everything was fine , heart beating perfectly as it should, apart from absolute brutal migraine auras where I couldn’t see that lasted about maybe 2 wks. But anyways about a wk after the ablation my heart seemed to go back into AF again. So I went to heart nurse and she confirmed taht it had gone back alright. Has anyone every had this happen after an ablation and this soon after an ablation? It’s very demoralising and hard to get my head around. I heard sometimes this can be normal due to scar tissue and once healed it goes back to a normal rhythm again? Just weird how it was fine then it went back to AF. Again if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sorry to hear that mate. Hope it calms down for you and you get it sorted. Horrible the stuff that can happen. Certainly no good for anxiety. Keep your head up mate and I’m sure it will come good for you.

I had an ablation 2 years ago and yes I went into AF 2 weeks after I went back to A ,&E and I went onto Digoxin and had an Echo Cardiogram, and still I had AF. 6 months later I had a 2nd EC and that time it worked. I have been fine since.

You can have up to 3 Ablations.

Good luck keep in touch with your nurse and cardiologist.

Many ablations don’t work the first time for many people. My husband has AF. AF is always lurking around and for my husband stress was a big trigger. I’m sure that with the world wide virus attacking over 141 Countries this has been a big factor for all of those with CAD and their care givers.

Try using an App to relax and settle down. Breethe and Calm are 2 good ones.

In the end my husband wound up with a CDT pacemaker. He’s had it for 18 months and has only had 4 bouts of AF but they only lasted for less than 20 minutes tops. The electrophysiologist gave us the data of dates and time in AF and we were able to track back to the days and discovered all episodes were during stressful times.

Yours from across the pond

Thank you. I’ll just see what the specialist says next and take it from there. Take care thanks
