Hi all its been 2yrs now since i had stent fitted, am i classed as being vulnerable due to this covid 19 virus, do i have to self isolate? or carry on as normal, i hear that many different things the whole issue is becoming confusing,would appreciate any advice.

Similar boat - no idea. I’ve been worrying about myself a lot so far....but on an ‘at risk’ scale, I don’t think we’re at the red alert end. Plenty in worse situations than us. I’m still taking lots of care, but also trying to get out of my selfish scared head.
I have an increasingly simplistic view of all of this. In the ever changing (worsening) environment in which we now find ourselves, if you are asking the question ‘am I at risk’ just assume the answer is ‘yes’.
I think we all need to take a more measured approach and analyse where we are individually. For myself I had a heart attack in 2017 caused by a blood clot. Stress at work was the trigger. With my long term interest in hill walking I was at a decent level of fitness. I called the emergency services early and was rushed to a local hospital where I had a couple of stents fitted immediately on arrival. I was then referred for elective surgery and had a triple bypass in 2018. Post operative checks have shown very little scarring on my heart, indeed it takes them time to find the damage. The long and short of it is that I was fit before all this happened and I am considerably fitter now.
In terms of my medical history I may be considered to be in the "at risk" group. Personally I do not consider myself to be so, but having said that none of us know the future and the virus could take any one of us. We do not need to expose ourselves unduly, but I am looking to be of assistance to those less fortunate than myself. What is interesting is that GPs will be writing to those that are considered "at risk".... will I get a letter?
I agree with your general view here. Regarding the letter from the GP, clearly it's a sit and wait thing, but I think it unlikely. From the coverage I have read and seen it seems it is more likely to be aimed at transplant, cancer, cystic fibrosis 'type' patients (I'm sure there are other conditions that will be added). I haven't yet seen anything to suggest that those with CHD, Hypertension, heart related conditions/treatments (CABG, valve replacements and the like) will be recipients of that letter but that might just be the media simplifying things. Fingers crossed, we may be spared total lockdown and isolation for a little while longer yet!

Hi thanks milkfairy, i work for the NHS in mental health, it is going to be hard to practice social distancing in my line if work, how would i go about it?? any advice would be welcome
I’d talk to my managers and explain the situation and ask for their advice on that. Difficult one.

The NHS will have guidelines about how to manage this very challenging situation.
