Pubs remaining open

The pub/ club near me has remained open, surely that’s against...... well is it law or still advisory?

the 'ban' did not kick in until Saturday, but there is also a change in rules that allow them to open up as takeaway food providers.

So, if the pub provided food, they can open up, and cook/ deliver the food or cook it for collection.

It's an interesting channel in which navigation is still not as clear as one would hope

I’m wondering if getting a takeaway is a safe option because of contamination etc.

Looking at how soom of the food delviered to home is supplied, I would suggest the bar has not been set very high - or not very well enforced.

It's why I never get food delivered and go to get any food i fancy fromv a take away, and only then from places which have proven themselves to be trusted to prepare and cook the food properly.

The Times reported Boris as saying yesterday that cafes, pubs and restaurants must close from Friday night, except for take away food. Other places like nightclubs, gyms, cinemas etc ‘as soon as they reasonably can’.

To answer your ‘is it law’ question, I think the answer is ‘Yes,it is the law’ HMG passed emergency powers in parliament recently that gives them sweeping powers to, amongst other things, enforce business closures etc. in order to fight this Coronavirus. However, as has been pointed out, there is something of a loophole in that they can function as food takeaway/delivery establishments. I wonder if any will offer beer on their takeaway menu😎
