Dad's Post Heart Bypass Recovery Update & Advice Please :D

Hi All,

I posted last week regarding my Dad's post surgery experience (Titled: Dad's 5 Days Post Triple Heart Bypass Surgery).

All's going well on the recovery front - Dad was in ICU for 5 days, as they waited for his Oxygen Levels to stabilise accordingly, then 3 days up on the general ward, before being discharged on Saturday 14th 🙌

In terms of discomfort, the chest/sternum etc is all good, but he is having some discomfort from a drain that was inserted into his lower back/side - The non dissolve stitches haven't been taken out of it, whereas the other stitches from various tubes etc had been prior to discharge?

We have tried to contact the GP, but they're only taking phonecall appointments due to the virus, and we have to phone at 8AM tomorrow morning to book an appointment...!

He's got a swollen lower leg/ankle/foot from where the grafts were taken - Any advice on how to help relieve this symptom, or is it a case of riding the wave and wearing compression socks as much as possible?

He's only getting around 3-4hrs sleep a night, awaking in the night wide awake! But otherwise he's doing well and getting about and is very happy and chirpy! 👍

Any advice/similar experiences on the above would be much appreciated please 😎

Cheers,

Phil

The compression socks are a must. Check your booklet for duration to reduce the time to wear. But my operation was mid October and I have had to go back to wearing. 4 hours sleeping I would have taken that unfortunately I still have insomnia problems. Hang on in there be safe and sound

Hi I think you should take your e mail address from the general forum.

Maybe do it through personal message.

The notification by e mail is coming from the site hosts not from people who post !!
