This is slightly off topic but it has been announced that all schools will close at the end of the week. I thought it would be useful as a number of you will be affected directly and many indirectly...

Had a mixed reaction from my daughter when I told her. She's happy she can have a lie in next week, but disappointed/worried as she's due to sit her GCSEs this summer

It’s been hectic at school preparing for this! We are to remain open on a skeleton staff to keep ‘frontline’ workers in work - we are in the middle of identifying key workers children/vulnerable children and they will be able to stay in school. Not sure if they will be asking me to work though as I think I am in the vulnerable group and although I’ve been going to work I’ve been social distancing other than that!

My girls aren’t overjoyed at the prospect of not being in school as they like routine, normality and seeing their friends!

My eldest is due to sit her GCSE’s so she’s a little disappointed she won’t get the actual reward for all her hard work in the form of showing what she can do. If they use mock exam results, she did very well but she was hoping to get 1 grade better in a couple of subjects after her final push of a strict revision timetable she has set herself. There’s a lot to be said for having that sense of achievement after knowing you have done your absolute best!

All that said, I am more than happy to do, in the words of Boris, whatever it takes to keep myself, my family and others safe. There is plenty we can do to occupy my children. We will go back to basics and enjoy time cooking, time in the garden and time together as a family watching TV, playing cards/board games, chat together, spring clean the house, workouts and of course schoolwork since the teachers will have spent time preparing packs and online teaching it would be rude not to do it!!

My Grandchildren school has 12 teachers in isolation. Our choice to take the children out. So we did so Tuesday. That was before they decided to shut them tomorrow. Only thing is these ones live with us!

As long as they don't all roam the streets and shops passing it on. Can't see that happening and I see random burglaries increasing as they get bored
