What is pericarditis
Hi Torvi. It’s the inflammation of the sac that surrounds the heart. Here’s some BHF info about the condition: bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...
I have recurrent pericarditis (I get an 'acute flare', it's treated and 'clears' then a new 'flare' happens several months-years later completely unrelated to the last flare). I was diagnosed as 'recurrent' in the late 1990s-early 2000s after the first episode cleared and then a few months later a completely new case flared up, cleared, then rinse-repeat. Went on for several years, stopped for over 15 years then last year came back in a big way. I'm still trying to clear the flare that hit in March 2019.
It's a rare condition that isn't seen a lot in the UK and can be difficult to diagnose and treat especially if it goes to recurrent like mine has.
Have you been diagnosed with pericarditis?
