I am 17 weeks post bypass surgery and my sternum is still clicking quite a bit. Is this normal or should I see a surgeon to have it redone?

Clicking sternum
Hi
I had a byepass over 2 years ago and even now i get some clicking, it isn't necessarily the wires causing the issue. where the ribs join the sternum there are joints and cartlidge and i believe my clicking is coming from these and not wiring issues, so it may be the same for you, but if you are worried talk to your GP when you can get an appointment that is.
Good luck
Charlie
By all means get medical advice if you're concerned. However, it can take many months for everything to get back to normal, during open heart surgery your ribs are forced outward in a way they were never designed for, consequently there's a lot of stress that takes time to heal.
Hope you're otherwise feeling well and that you're doing your breathing and walking exercises. Good luck with continued recovery!
Hello and welcome to the forum! I only had the odd click in the very early days. It is probably worth checking with your GP but it is probably a bit soon for a re-do. You might be recommended a support vest to aid stability and give it a chance to heal fully.
