Mild mitral valve regurgitation and slow heart rate

Hello!

Whilst having a pre-op in October for another condition , the nurse was alarmed at my heart rate of 43 bpm which matches my age, took an ecg which showed missing p waves and the anaesthetist she showed it to , put the brakes on my future surgery until I'd had an another ecg,( which showed the same result,)echo and 24hr monitor. The echo shows mild mitral regurgitation and trivial tricuspid regurgitation but normal chambers etc. Holter showed sinus bradycardia I was already aware of, and nothing more. My GP said it's all very reassuring, no treatment needed and will now forward the results to the hospital. My worry is, I've had chest pain and heaviness on and off for 2 months especially bad in cold weather as every winter I get it, I'm tired a lot, I get dizzy and a leak surely, can only get worse?

Hi Cornish, Just to say I am the same as you. Slow heart rate, and "mild central mitral regurgitation". Apparently there is no connection between the bradycardia and the leaky valve. I was also told its all fine and normal . Altho Im still having a couple more tests, as I get near-faints and arrythmias. How are you doing?

Hi thanks for reply, getting chest pains when cold so was fine all summer and it's back but sporadic and does go after gtn spray. I get the odd dizzy spell and fainted a few mths back but I had an angiogram which was clear.so referred back to gp now. They thought it might be coronary spasm. I know microvascular angina doesn't show up on angiogram. The ecg showed isorythmic dissociation, bradycardia and holter sv ectopic beats. That with mild mvr and chest pains shows several things can be off kilter but nothing to worry about. At least that's what I'm hoping! Are your tests anytime soon?

Apparently leaking valves can get better. After a quadruple bypass it was discovered my husband had a leaking mitral valve. When he had an echo a few months' later the radiographer was surprised to find the valve was no longer leaking. After takotsubo CM my mitral valve was leaking a moderate 2/4. The last two echoes showed 1 to 2/4 so that is an improvement rather than progression of the regurgitation.
