Hello Mohammed - I had the same issue while taking atorvastatin. I was advised by Pharmacist that I could split the tablet as unlike most stations atorvastatin can be taken at any time of day. As always still ask a Pharmacist yourself. You can call most Pharmacy's and get to speak with a Pharmacist. I could still not tolerate 80mg and was changed to 40mg which is still a decent dose.

If the pharmacist/Doc says it’s OK you can buy a pill splitter from Boots. As Nathan says - Atorvastatin can be taken at any time of day (unlike other Statins).

Well I live and learn! I thought it was the Metformin I take that was giving me wind but perhaps it's the Atorvastatin! 😄

Constipation or wind and diarrhoea are ‘common side effects’ ie they happen to more than 1 in a 100 people. But as Clerkenweller says upset stomach for us hearties can also be caused by other meds. nhs.uk/medicines/atorvastatin/

Hey Steve another Atorvastatin sufferer! I was under the impression all statins are more effective overnight as this is when your liver makes most of the cholesterol? If this is not the case it could be good news as I had another wild night last night, all manner of monsters came to see me, feel like going back to bed this morning never mind the parkrun. I guess I should speak to the GP but it is easier said than done here......

You’re right that the liver makes most cholesterol at night and most statins - except for Atorvastatin and Rosuvastatun should be taken in the evening. Because A and R have a longer half life they can be taken at any time of day as long as it’s the same time each day. If you can’t get an appointment with the doc you could try phoning your local pharmacist or the pharmacist at the hospital where you were treated. heartuk.org.uk/getting-trea...

I should say that I don’t think that nightmares are on the official list of side effects. But there are a number of publications that seem to be reputable that have made this link.

Are you sure it’s the Atorvastatin? Some of the heart drugs cause gastritis, hence the prescribing of lansoprazole and the like. I’d checkwith your pharmacist which the likely culprit is.

I am only on Atorvastatin and Clopidogrel?

Indigestion, constipation or diarrhoea are common side effects of clopidogrel. I have had to find ways through diet etc of dealing with this. Worth a chat with either your GP or pharmacist.

I get wind but the worse side effect is the tiredness. I’ve only been taking them for a few days but I can’t walk as far as I could and I have to keep resting.

I take 20mg of atovastatin which my gp advised taking at night. I do suffer with flatulence but have never known what was causing that. Seek advise from your doctor before changing anything

Provastatin May be better choice since it is little less effective.
