FFR test as part of angiogram?

Hi everyone. Firstly want to wish everyone a healthy and happy Christmas. Also a big thank you for replies received to previous posts, every reply is helpful. My husband recently failed his stress test and they admitted him straight as they were concerned. They advised that someone with a 50 percent blockage should not really fail the stress test as he did. They were also concerned as his ecg was off and also that his blockage is in the LAD. They did an angiogram which confirmed that blockage was still at 50 percent. They also did something called an FFR which is a more invasive test to check the blood flow in the artery. They said this showed that the blood flow was fine in that artery. Has anyone else had any experience of an FFR? They said the stress test may have been a false positive. I queried with cardiologist should we be concerned that blockage on the LAD and his young age but he said that plaque looks stable and blood flow okay so to concentrate on that, rather than the location. He said hubby not to over exert and no marathons etc. We trying to get on with our lives now and not think something bad is around the corner. Thanks for all your replies in advance.

Hi

Yes after HA in May I had angiogram and it was decided like you husband that the blood flow was fine and it could cause more problems if thay put a stent in unnecessarily.

Managed by usual meds all fine since

I had a false positive after two stress ECG's and a stress Echocardiogram leading to unneeded angiograms. I was so convinced after the first one that the others would also be false that I offered to bet the consultants a months wages but they wouldn't take the bet.

I believe that over 30% are false positives.

Hi, I believe that current best practice is to only treat blockages that are restricting blood flow which is tested using FFR.

An FFR of below 0.8 is normally stented and above is managed medically I think but ultimately is the cardiologist's decision.

When I had my stent the FFR was 0.59 so definitely restricting the blood.
