My favourite, often commented on, Christmas wine is "I don't like sprouts".
Christmas Wine: My favourite, often... - British Heart Fou...
Christmas Wine
Slightly off topic but OH went for INR last week and lovely nurse said " If you do have a few more drinks than usual don't forget to have an extra helping of sprouts!!"
No more Brussels after 31st January! Bye bye sprouts!
Love them one of my favourite veg
Stop the sprouts now! ⛔
Oh dear, I'd 'like' that if Brussels sprouts weren't the veg of choice at my house. We have them at least twice a week - best green leafy, ever. We love the mini-cabbages so well we grow our own!
Now, broccoli, em, not so much.
Broccoli lovely as is spinach. You can keep all the other brassicas...
Got to Agree with Rose, Brussel Sprouts are also my Favourite Veg.
Just showing my age but we only ever had Sprouts at Christmas, it was the only time of year you could buy them.
Hip Hip Hooray for the Humble Sprout
Me too and usually have them a couple of times a week. I even enjoy eating them cold....is that odd?? 😂
If you lived with me we would be known as the Odd Couple because I will eat cold sprouts as well.
Ooooh, fresh off the stalk, so sweet, so crunchy, so lovely - and you can dip them in some lovely dips. I thought my husband and I were the only ones who did that, so nice to know we're not
Hi Sunnie, hope you're well. I thought I'd let you know that we did survive the Edinburgh Xmas Market. Didn't quite go as well as we'd have liked as the day we wanted to visit, it was closed due to the adverse weather conditions, as was the castle & the zoo! Hope you had more fun at the Glasgow Market.
Grrr, my stage of pericarditis recovery gave my 'I hate crowds' husband the perfect excuse to put the brakes on Glasgow - he even kept me from going to our little town Christmas market (oh alright, he had a very good point, it would have been foolish to go out in the weather we've been having. sigh).
Hopefully there will be a next year!
I read about the closures that day down in Edinburgh - wild and woolly apparently but it must have been disappointing to come all this way only to find everything closed. What did you do instead? (Galleries, shopping, shopping, Old Town walks, the Leith side walk under a very famous bridge, shopping...)
The trip was a bit of a disaster!! As we were taking the overnight sleeper train I'd made arrangements to spend the day in London with my sister. That got cancelled as she'd been really poorly, so instead I was going to spend the day with her at her home. That got cancelled as I caught a cold & had a sore throat. Caught the overnight train & had no sleep due to the noise of the train & our cabin being so cold. Weather conditions in Edinburgh were so bad it was almost impossible to be outdoors, we did try but literally were blown off our feet. Lack of sleep, being a bit poorly (nothing serious) and the weather was a bit too much for hubby who slept the afternoon away! Stayed in & ate in the hotel in the evening. Visited the market the next day, it was freezing so didn't hang about. Due to overhead signal problems the trains were in chaos and our train arrived home 2 hrs late which caused us to miss the next train, which was the last train home! Fortunately the train company paid for a taxi! We're still laughing about how much had gone wrong & we're now making plans to return in the summer!! 😂
I'm sorry to hear you didn't get to Glasgow, I hope you're OK and that you're fully recovered and able to enjoy Christmas.
I'm impressed you can laugh after all that but you're going to love Edinburgh in summer. It's usually chock-a-block with visitors from late spring through late summer-early autumn but the weather is usually wonderful during that time of year and everyone jostles along amicably.
I hope you and your sister are both on the mend! I'm a wee bit better each day so no complaints from me - I've even got the house dressed for Christmas and New Year. As long as I see improvement no matter how slight, I'm happy.
Lezzers would dip the in chocolate while sipping Sprout Gin!
Apparently they are tasty deep fried in batter but it might be an urban myth!
you can always dip them in chocolate , cover then in silver paper and randomly place them in Ferrero Rocher boxes...
