Abdominal aortic aneurysm
Hi Nicky444
Here's a link to the NHS site on the subject

Yours is in the medium range, so the solution seems to be an ultrasound scan every 3 months to check it isn't getting bigger, and keeping a healthy lifestyle.
Hope this helps
Hey Nicky, OH has exactly this and also 4.6cm. He is currently having 3 monthly scans to monitor any growth. We have been told that the consultant doesn't step in until it is 5.5cm, when they discuss an operation. Yes, it is scary at first like any health issue. Take care x
Thank you very reassuring
Mine was discovered in 2004 when it was 3.1 cm and has very slowly grown until it is now 4.5. It is rather scary at first to think of it there but most are very slow growing. Initially scans were annually but now six monthly. Some prescribe Statins but I have never been.
Thank you for your reply, I’ve had mri scans on my liver for the last 2 years and this has only just been noticed, lower than my liver so I may of had it like yourself many years hopefully they will look back at previous scans to see if it was there . Your reply has been very helpful many thanks and I wish you well
I had gone for a scan on my gall bladder. He said that was OK but you have a small aortic aneurysm, 37 cysts on your liver, two cysts on one kidney and one on the other.
A friend who was a policeman said that the most middle aged and old men found dead alone had burst undiagnosed aneurysms. Good job that we now have a national screening programme.
MRI's give a more accurate size of the aneurysm than ultra sound ones. Hopefully it was unnoticed in earlier scans.
