Best labour saving idea : Visit M&S or Lidl buy Stollen serve with fresh coffee. If you add milk to coffee add 4 or 5 cardamoms to some milk and heat in microwave. Remove cardamoms and whisk with 1/2 spoon of cinnamon add to coffee mmm. I have made the attached plum cake and it was scrummy allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/629... I used less oil than in recipe about 200 ml

Home made truffles another winner. bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/182... I flavour with orange oil S'bury sell a good Valencia orange oil in small glass bottle on home baking counter.

I doubt the odd indulgence here and there will make much difference. Just enjoy it and don't overdo it!

CHRISTMAS CRUMBLE

Serves 4-6

Ingredients

For the filling

600g bramley apples

100g dried cranberries

150g raisins

80ml apple juice

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp mixed spice

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp maple syrup

For the crumble

120g Jumbo oats

80g ground almonds

3 tbsp melted coconut oil

4 tbsp maple syrup

1 tsp cinnamon

Method

Preheat the oven to 150°C/130°fan/300°F/Gas 2.

Start by making the mincemeat style filling. Add the dried cranberries, raisins, apple juice, cinnamon, mixed spice and vanilla extract to a saucepan over a medium heat. Gently simmer for around 10 minutes.

While this is cooking, peel the apples then chop into cubes, discarding the core. Place in a saucepan over a medium heat along with the maple syrup. Gently cook for 6-8 minutes or until the apple begins to soften.

Mix both the mincemeat style filling and cooked apple together then layer into the base of a baking dish.

To make the crumble, simply mix all the ingredients together well in a bowl. Layer this crumble mixture over the top of the fruit layer. Place into the oven to cook for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on the top. Yum!
