Long Standing Atrial fibrillation

I was diagnosed with idiopathic A/f in late 1986 and told about options. One of which was do nothing as it might sort itself out! The system then forgot about me for several years. My new doctor then swung into action but didn't seem to acknowledge the previous diagnosis?

Anyway, have been well looked after since, but have had 2 strokes during this time. Very lucky!! What I would like to know if anyone can shed a light on why I've never really been offered any surgical options. Had aversion but it was a gamble as It was rather late. Had two lots of veinous? With the camera. All the tests for breathlessness as well. So looked after well with the investigation side of things. My BP is very high again and my doctor just smiled and said I was on borrowed time.

In order to comment we will need to know about:

any meds that you take?

your weight/height ratio as in waist half your height, or your BMI? ,

your exercise patterns/capabilities ? Do you take any/much exercise?

your BP readings - you say it is very high again?

When you say 'doctor do you mean GP or cardiologist?

What does ' you are on borrowed time' mean?

We all have an average life span - about 79 for men, 82 for women.

2 strokes? What advice did you receive? Are you on anticoagulants?

Any cardioversions or ablations?

Any ECG'S?

Not what you're looking for?
