UK Dad Heartache - looking for advice from others with Child with Cardiac defects

Our unborn baby has been diagnosed with a AVSD and is due in a month. I’m wanting to reach out to other parents in the similar situations to share advice and support.

Does your child have a heart defect?

As a father I want to make right and can’t do so due to our situation, this is a stressful time and it’s be great to connect with other dads and parents in the same boat.

I acknowledge your desire to get in touch with other dad's in your situation.

There is something very special to be able to talk to other parents who share your experience.

There are some other support groups who are probably better placed to provide the support you are looking for which I have listed below.

I wish you and your partner the very best for the upcoming birth and then surgery.

It is of course going to be a very stressful time however all the staff will I am sure care for you all very well.

Sorry to hear your news - it must have been such a shock. The only experience I have of anything like this is a local newsagent's daughter. She was born with a heart defect (I have no idea of details) but she was only operated on when she reached 8. She is now a healthy normal 10 year old. I sincerely hope you outcome is just as good!
