Hello everyone, I have micro vascular angina, coronary artery spasm and mild atrial fibrillation. I want to ask about bowel ischaemia.

In June I had emergency surgery for bowel ischaemia. I need to find out whether it was caused by the above heart problems. I do know that AF can be a factor but mine is infrequent and episodes are short. I won't be seeing the cardiologist until November. So far I haven't had a definite answer from anyone. I would like to know whether any of you have had a similar experience, and what you were told. Thank you.

Hi Balletfan,

I have lived with microvascular and vasospastic angina for 7 years.

I also have spasms in my brain and kidneys.

I used to see Prof Kaski before he retired and his opinion was that you can have spasms in all the blood vessels in your body.

There is a condition called mesenteric ischaemia.

This research was published last year again saying that MVA and vasospastic angina may well be systemic disorders affecting multiple organs on our bodies.

I hope this helps to answer your question.

I'm seeing a Gynae who thinks my chronic pelvic pain is connected to MVA.

Hi bantam 12

It could well be connected.

I was sent for a CT chest and colonoscopy in January due to all the pain I was experiencing in my left side and kidney all at the same time as my chest pain and neurological symptoms.

All improved when I was on IV GTN during my April hospital admission.

Do you know of any treatment options for all these microvascular pains ? I keep being told everything is down to either autoimmune or microvascular but not much help to treat it ☹️

No!

My MVA and vasospastic angina are both ' refractory' to treatment as they love to say....

I have just had to find ways to live with chronic pain with acute episodes needing hospital admissions from time to time.

😭😖

Could I please ask "Can you actually feel it spasm in kidney?"

Wow . . .

To answer your question, yes, I do.

I have been wondering how to broach the subject with my GP.

She's helpful, but I was wondering which department to go to for this?

Colonoscopy is of no use.

As for gynae, yes, I had the same problem.

Isn't this hub so great?
