Is SVT a problem that always needs medication?

In the last two months I have had missing heart beats and something the Cardiologist calls repetitive episodes (?). This is the first indication I have had that something may be wrong with my heart. Had a scan, ultrasound and I have been prescribed 2.5m Bisoprolol 'to make me more comfortable'. I wasn't uncomfortable ... just worried! (also on BP tabs for years now controlled for a long time .. and statins). I am 75 and very happy with life!

The missing beats have stopped .. just the occasional feeling of 'flutter'. Am I heading for something worse? Do I really need to start this medication? I would so appreciate some advice. I don't want to take medication unnecessarily.

Take it. I've got the same sort of problem, tried bisoprolol but it didn't agree with me so was put on flecainide. That was brilliant. Theres a number of possible drug treatments, it's a case of finding one that works on you with least side effects.
