Hi all. New here and looking for help/advice please.

I had my first heart attack 3 years ago at age 46 ( STEMI with 1 stent fitted) and, unfortunately, have had another in May this year ( NSTEMI 2 stents fitted).

My recovery this time is not going well, I have daily chest pains, constantly short of breath, sore throat, feel flushed and very fatigued. Saw the cardiologist in June who said he would arrange for a nuclear perfusion scan which should be in 3 weeks.

2 months on and nothing has been done, not even had a letter for a future scan date. I've chased it via the medical secretary every week for the last 4 weeks. I've rang the scheduling department who just said they were 3 months behind. I've also seen my doctor who said they would send a letter to try and hurry things along.

Is there anything else I can do? I'm not wanting to jump the queue for the sake of it, I really don't feel well. I can't start rehab as I'm not it in a fit state to do so and feel like I'm in limbo.

I lost my wife last year and, to be honest, as well as feeling physically unwell, am also feeling very down about everything.

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Andy so sorry to hear you’re having such a bad time. I think it might be helpful to contact your local PALS department (patient advice liaison service). Explain the situation and hopefully they maybe able to hurry things on for you. It’s not about jumping the queue it’s about following up on what you were told by your consultant. Hope you get it sorted soon. Take care. Zena

I wasn't aware of PALS so thank you for your reply. I'll give them a ring and see if they can help. Andy

Hi Andy, The next time you feel unwell go to A&E, you might get to see a specialist sooner and maybe get things moved along .

Good luck.

I see that PALS have been mentioned. I agree that if nothing happens go to A&E (not on a Saturday night!) and I would also be hassling your GP. Good luck.
