I have Heart Failure and AF. My wife has bought a vibration plate exercise machine which she uses. My question is would it be safe for me to use the machine with my heart conditions?

Thanks

Best to ask either bhf nurse or ur GP x

Don't know if you can use it,but that won't get you fit.You need to get out and walk or exercise in the house.None of these fancy gizmos are any good. All the best Wayne.x

They are good for helping prevent decalcifying of bones in leg, useful for women especially/

No it definitely won't get anyone fit, I believe it's used mainly for toning but they should only be used for a few mins at a time. We've got them at my local gym I can't see they would be good for your heart at all!

Morning. I would not use it until you have checked with your GP or specialist Nurse. I used one a few years ago, before my heart issues, afterwards I did not feel well at all. Like the note below, get out and exercise by walking to start with and ask your GP to refer you to a relevant scheme for patients with Heart issues. Good luck

Hi DaiW. The only contraindication to using a vibration plate re heart disease is if someone has a pacemaker. Hope this helps. Jane

I too have AF and had ablation Jan 2019. I’m still pretty sporty and was rowing at a good level till last year. I’m 40. I would advise against vibration plates, I would concentrate on very light weight work and walking and cycling. I cannot convey how important it is to get out for a walk. As some of the others have said I would check with your gp. I have seen a specialist with regards to returning to training, they have said to take it easy and just do body weight exercise. Hope that’s of some help. All the best RC

Ditto to exercise and healthy eating. There are no short cuts and anything that tries to bypass actual exercise is a) not worth the money

b) doing nothing for your (or your wife’s) heart

Eat less, move more.
