Hi everybody, I will be taking a holiday this year, and need to state my medical condition for insurance company! I have mild bi-leaflet valve prolapse with mild to moderate late systolic mitral regurgitation with normal ejection!Sinus rhythm with ventricular! And systolic murmur with clear lung fields! Need to get this right, as do not want to end up not being covered, if something happens on holiday! Do I need to state everything above? not sure want to do?
Regards,
Glyndwr.

I always say phone them, tell them everything then they can never say they didnt know. Make a note of the date & time of the phone call & the name of the person you've spoken to. But then I'm always over cautious when it comes to travel insurance!!
Hi. Before you phone the insurance company I would make an appointment with your GP. Ask the GP what they would declare in the remote chance you need to make a claim. It is your GP that would complete the medical certificate to the insurance company. Insurance companies work a set of standard definitions ask your GP which set fits you best. Hope that is helpful. Regards
It’s a worry because the call handlers aren’t medically trained, they just have a ‘box ticking protocol’ to go through. When I got my travel insurance recently the protocol seemed more interested in my 2 year old HF diagnosis and the meds that I am still on than the cardiac ablations and CRT device which were to adddess the HF. I’m sure my condition has much improved but I’m still to have my 6 month post-procedure review with my cardiologist to confirm my improvement. Hopefully next year it will be more straightforward when I buy travel insurance.
