My cardiologist recently suggested that, if I wanted, I could have a setting on my ICD changed which would make the ICD more responsive to my heart rate. He said it would assist my heart by pacing more when I was doing physical exercise.
Has anyone else had any experience of this? I am
on betablockers and sweat profusely with limited exercise so wonder this might help as well as reduce fatigue?

Probably- I would take notice of what they say . I find it amazing .
A while back I was at the pacing clinic just laying there while she tapped away on the keyboard " I have just turned your heart rate up from 60 to 70 " .
ICD have amazing capabilities. My husband had one implanted in September. Together with his monitor it can tell the doctor if he is in AF, if his lungs are collecting fluid, if there are any precursor signs of an on coming HA all before he would recognize any symptoms. They can change the ICD settings to maximize your well being and extend your life and your quality of life. That little “bump” under your left clavicle is a tiny computer that can do amazing things! Your guardian angel. We never realized the years of research and the many scientists it took to develop these mind boggling devices until we unexpectedly needed them. My husband and I have a new respect and appreciation for the men and women who over the years were working on saving lives. Science is amazing!
Hi Plantome. My HF nurse was keen to get my ICD doing as much work as possible. In my case this means getting me on the highest dose of Bisoprolol, so that my resting heart rate will try to drop below 40, at which point the ICD will take over. Letting the ICD take the strain seems to be a good thing!
