I've been lucky enough to live for 54 years whilst enjoying excellent health except for 2 days. Unfortunately those 2 days were due to an acute coronary syndrome, stent and resulting heart disease diagnosis. Physically my recovery was very quick but mentally every little chest twinge still causes some anxiety even 2 years on.
There seems to be a lot of people on here looking for hope / reassurance about there future and I wondered if any community members or bhf staff could post any good news stories about people they know that have had stents or bypass surgery and survived for 10 years or longer?
Thanks in advance if you reply, cheers Mark

Some months ago I posted about the father of a colleague and the mother of a friend. Both are in their early/mid-ninties and fit for their age . The father had a bypass over forty years ago and the mother a heart attack somewhat earlier.Neither is overweight and both take their medications as advised.
I also know of two people who did not survive a year post-bypass. One resumed smoking and the other heavy drinking!
Hello and welcome, unsure about the survival for 10 years or longer success story, only in my 3rd year but see below link for another kind of success story.
There are quite a few of us here who have lived through your 10 year limit. I had my first HA on Xmas Day 1997, quad bypass in Feb 1999 - this lasted 16 years before further intervention required - so had 3 procedures for stents since 2015. Still here drawing my occupational pension & State Pension even if I now have HF.
Up until the last couple of years enjoyed 2 holidays per year abroad - wifes' mobility prevents further holidays at present. Have been able to enjoy my grandchildren on top of this. Maybe I am blessed with having a good GP and a first class Cardio Dept close by.
