"Chest Freeze "

I can't seem to find an answer to my problem. Maybe I don't explain it right. Cold air bothers my chest. Not uncommon. I have Copd. So my Dr. says that's wat it is.. It's when the air hits my chest on the outside. That's what starts it. I can have my nose covered up. The cold air sets in my chest. No pain, no trouble breathing . Its like the cold air goes right through me. I know this is heart group. Don't think its Copd. Worried it's heart related. Anyone else have this?

Many members have problems in cold weather because breathing cold air narrows the arteries and can trigger angina. However, what you describe does not match this. Could you be having a bronchial spasm? You mention cold air hitting your chest. This should not be the case as you should wrap up well and cover your mouth with a scarf!

Thanks for the reply. I am wrapped up. I would think if it were bronchial spasm, it would effect my breathing in some way. My breathing is fine and I have no pain. It's hard to explain. Like if you held a ice cube in your hand for a minute. How your hand would feel. Chilled to the core. Hard to explain it. Thought maybe blood vessels constricting.

Apologies, but I am now puzzled. You say "when the air hits my chest on the outside" but also say "I am wrapped up" so I am unclear how cold air is hitting your chest.

Through my opening in coat by collar. Or sometimes through coat,I'll say like you eat or drink something ice cold quickly and the coldness stays in your chest

What you need is a good old fashioned thick woolly muffler which will warm up as you breathe into it and warm the incoming air. Lots of layers help as well, along with 'puffer' jackets.
