Horrible just waiting for surgery isn’t it. I’ve experienced it with the spinal surgery I recently had.

A question to the forum in general: are the wait times for heart surgery usually long? I waited 14 months from being put on the surgeons list to having the op on my spine? Can they be as long for cardiology?

Some people have had awful experiences of being repeatedly bumped off their scheduled operation date by emergencies suddenly arriving at the hospital's doors. I'm not sure that adds masses of extra wait time, but it must shred all but the strongest nerves.

I personally went for an angiogram, fully expecting a stent or just stronger medication as the outcome, but I was kept in for a bypass which was completed within the week, (well done Southampton Hospital!), unfortunately not everyone has such a positive story to tell.
