I’ve just been diagnosed with sinus pauses and have been having them constantly for over a week now .

I’m so scared 😟 and apparently have to wait for cardiologist appointment which could take weeks ! I’m only 49 and feel my life’s over, I don’t really understand the condition or what’s available out there ? I normally run 5k twice a week but now I’m too scared to even go got a walk , please could anyone give me information on this condition x

Sorry to hear you are struggling and life is difficult for you right now. I have pauses and will be seeing my cardiologist in three weeks time to see just what they are and what treatment I need. If you are having a long wait to see a cardiologist could you afford to pay to see one privately if it's really worrying you.

Life seems a struggle right now but they will get you back on track with a treatment plan. I understand how concerning it is and how stressful when first diagnosed but things will improve. Best wishes.

I have pauses which cause presyncope so I'm having yet another round of tests, I have previously been told "nothing to worry about" but now I have presyncope they are doing something about it, my treatment options are meds, pacemaker or ablation. Most Cardiology clinics are struggling with to many patients so everything takes forever, good luck !

could someone explain the difference between ectopic beats and sinus pauses?.. over the past few months i’ve been having, what i thought were ectopic episodes.. are the two conditions completely different?

Hi Elsog68, Last summer I was diagnosed with pauses in my heartbeat and fitted with a pacemaker. I understand your fears. I advise you to first of all stay safe; I suffered blackouts, one of which was at the top of the stairs. I wish I’d wrapped myself in cotton wool a bit more pending my treatment. Thankfully, I wasn’t permitted to drive at the time. Push the doctors for your appointment. There is a lot to be hopeful about. I feel great today, my “guardian angel” watching over me, and I’m looking forward to a 20 mi cycle today in this better weather. Best wishes, Paul.

Glad all’s ok now. I love running and had to stop. Can’t wait to get fixed and get back out there x
