Felodipine

Hi all. Does anyone take felodipine and suffer with a shortness of breath? I had my HA in July 18 and my GP has finally got my BP under control. I take ramipril and felodipine. Since taken the later I notice that sometimes I am short of breath and also my ankles swell

I had a tiny stent fitted and cardiologist has discharged me. I suffer with terrible anxiety following my heart event and everyone says it will get better. I’m just waiting for the day where I wake up and look forward to life without thinking about my heart all the time.

Anyone relate?

I don’t seem to have a breathing issue on Felodipine which I started about a month ago but I do get the ankle swelling to which you refer even though it’s only a small 2.5mg daily dose. My lower legs are very inflamed- looking as well.

A diuretic might help to avoid the ankle swelling in your case?

I’ve been on 10mg Felodopine for over 12 months. Following a suspected minor stroke last May Ramipril 5mg, Indapamide 2.5mg, Clopidogrel 75mg,Doxazosin 6mg were added to the mix. I stopped taking the statins last year of my own accord.

I have been having the odd episode of breathlessness, the other day when chopping kindling and occasionally when I’m out walking. It’s not what I would expect considering the small amount of exertion.

I’ve regularly been walking up to 2 miles normally without any issues. I initially put it down to lack of fitness as I contracted a severe chest infection last year and then found I was folate deficient and vitamin D deficient. I am also suffering from intermittent bouts of dizziness and a feeling of weakness in my legs which I believe is being caused by side effects of meds.

It’s difficult to know which Med is causing the leg weakness and dizziness due to the several medications. I stopped the Indapamide 2 weeks ago with the agreement of my GP and the Doxazosin was reduced to 2mg several weeks ago but so far nothing has changed. I guess it will be a question of trial and error to find what’s causing this. Haven’t had any problems with ankle swelling though.

Good luck
