Well done!

I had mine done at the Barts too, just over 3 months ago.

I feel already so much better and I am starting to feel the benefits of the surgery already.

At the beginning is a little hard and you might feel a bit fragile in the body and emotionally but hang in there ....the light is just closer to you than you can imagine.

There are some amazing people in ward 4 a and 4b .

I have been in both of them.

My only recommendation to you is not to be afraid to walk and do a lot of breathing exercises.

I had fluids on my lungs that had to be drained for not doing my breathing exercises.

Best wishes to you

Oh wow I’m on 4 a and yes staff are lovely very scary when you come off all the machines though but also good ,I’ll do my breathing as much as it can ,thank you xx

Great !

The doctor in charge of the physio and rehabilitation is very good.

His name is Jason ...he looked after me once they removed fluids from my lungs as I had both lungs collapsed ...he made me walk so fast around the two wards that I was surprise I could even do it.

Who done your surgery?

I was under Mr Kolvekar.

Sleep well and rest x

Hi Andrea

Thanks for posting a great photo, you are looking really well, even though I know you will be feeling sore. .

I had forgotten how much plumbing is involved in Heart Surgery. Take Care and don't overdo things. Wishing you a speedy full recovery

Best Regards

It takes about ten weeks for your breastbone to fully heal so no break dancing, clubbing and rock climbing until then . Welcome to the zipper club. Give it 3 months and you will be feeling lots of benefits. Buy yourself a V shaped pillow to help yourself sleep and relax and listen to the blood whooshing through your heart. I found it to be very reassuring and relaxing. I have been told that there are oils available to help your scar heal that may be worth a try - the nursing staff may be able to advise you. Your picture brought back many memories , thanks for posting it.

Hi I used Bio oil after my bypass surgery and most of the scar is now barely visible. Follow the rehab as they tell you and keep positive. I'm two years post op and now enjoy the gym, exercise classes, swimming and walking. Try to do a mindfulness course as this helps with the emotional side of things. Get well soon. Dawn

I had my mvr 4 months ago. Just be kind to yourself. We all recover at different rates. Just try each day to do a little more than the day before and listen to your body.

Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery. 👍
