Are you sure it is angina? Following stent and medication aspirin, blood thinners, beta blockers and statins I get reflux which gives me chest pain. Might be worth getting it checked out.

i take medication for reflux so maybe but doesnt feel like reflux.only comes on after food not when exercising ect so im guessing not angina.o. gtn spray does seem to take it away but it creeps back.

I do get angina sometimes after eating a proper meal in the evening. Anything but a fairly light meal can set it off. The very helpful liaison nurse, after excluding reflux! told me the blood supply focusses on digesting, leaving the heart with less oxygen, hence the angina.

I have microvascular angina and coronary artery spasm. Recently I started to get angina after drinking very cold fluids. I am now experiencing immediate chest pain after starting to drink anything, or after the first mouthful of food, though not every time. My GTN spray is effective on those occasions, and I had a gastroscopy last year which was normal. I hope this is of some help. Best wishes.

I did get some stabbing pains and angina or about 3 months after my stent. GTN spray helped. I did as much walking on the flat as i could and built up a reasonable tolerance. After three months I was pretty much back on form and off the GTN. However i did notice the psychological dependence on having the GTN spray with me. I weaned myself off thinking about where it was after a couple more months.. Good luck

Hi there. Just read your post. My husbdand has a stent just over a week ago. He’s had the odd twinge but nothing else. He does have another artery that may need a stent. They are going to see how he goes. He is breathing a lot better. I was interested in your walking. Husband is walking around 15/20 minutes a day. I just wondered how you built yours up. Husband is very keen to get back to normal. (We used to run 5ks all the time!!)

May sound a strange suggestion but could it be trapped wind? I get this after meals or drinking especially if it has been a while since ate last. This can feel pretty horrible and can be anywhere across the rib cage or diaphragm. I use over the counter medication, checked by the pharmacist for me as compatible with my Meds to relieve this though I think there are meds you can get on prescription. I use Windeeze or deflatine and get relief within a relatively short time. Eating slowly also helps. Ranitidine is good for acid reflux which can be bought but I have a stronger one prescribed. Obviously get this pain checked out by your GP but hopefully it is nothing to worry about.

I’m 3 months post stent. Had a lot of chest discomfort immediately after which has now almost gone. Was very different to my Angina - so I decided it was the actual stent. My NHS rehab told me they think the pain is more stress / tension - but when I asked her to touch my chest where my stent would be located, she touched the exact spot where I get tender. Give it time to settle, it’s taken me 3 months to feel anything like I used to.
