Tests all normal - except ‘stretching’.

So far CT, X-ray, 24hr ECG and echo have all failed to find anything to account for my symptoms (breathlessness, chest pain, erratic high heart rate). Echo apparently showed some stretching (not sure what that means!) but normal function. Which is great but I’m but sure what happens from here. They are referring me for a cardiology appointment but I’m not sure what they can offer if all those standard tests failed to pick up anything? I did have symptoms whilst wearing ECG but they say nothing shows the cause. Will they just say to go away and call doctor if I get chest pains? Right now I get them regularly but resist going to hospital as I have got through each event so I don’t know how I would know what was the critical level of pain/breathlessness to go in. I’m going to improve my diet and increase my exercise and see what happens. It’s definitely not anxiety based.

Hi April_May

I hope that you get the answers you need quickly. Good luck for your Cardiology appointment.

BHF have specialist nurses that you can call and discuss things that worry you.

Best wishes

Chris

"Stretching" ? Hadn't Heard Of That. [ I Can Only Think Of A Little Enlargement Of The Heart ] Bless Ya~* You'll Be Fine.. But Everybody Has Some Form Of Anxiety On The Norm. So, When It's Even Not A "Disorder" You Still Get A Little "Adrenaline" In The Bloodstream. As Far As The Shortness Of Breath. Do You Smoke ? or/ Have You Had Your Lungs Checked ? [ asthma ect...ect... ]... Plus The Chest Pain Could Be From Your Spine, Bursitis , Ect...Ect...

Wishing You The Best ~*

Thank you. No don’t smoke, drink, I’m a good fit weight, this all started in September, no changes to my lifestyle other than that I became less stressed rather than more as a chronic neurological problem suddenly resolved. I hadn’t heard of stretching either other than dilated cardiomyopathy which doesn’t sound like this is. That was what was read out over phone to me so I can’t remenver the details. Waiting for the letter to remind myself.

Cheers. Letter just came through and refers to dilation of right side of heart but normal function.

I’m going to try seeing a really excellent osteopath to see whether a general body MOT can help to relieve any physiological imbalances that might be triggering nervous system imbalances. My respiration rate is low at 5-7 breaths per minute (sometimes 3) so it may be that I have some sort of muscular restriction making me breathe slowly and perhaps that affects my heart rate and pain?

It feels silly posting on these forums where so many people have real problems, but I don’t really have anyone else to speak to, so I appreciate the moral support!
