Long haul flight for Florida

Dear all I wondered if anyone had experience of this or could help. In August we booked a trip of a lifetime holiday to Florida with our children and grandchildren. There are 10 of us in total. They are all counting the days and there is no way I would want to cancel i would be brokenhearted. I do have other problems inc gallstones but in Oct suffered a heart attack and had one stent. It happened the following day from a short haul flight. I've had what they think are 2 unstable angina attacks since and I am half way through cardiac rehabilitation. I am due to see the cons on 1st April but when they put the stent in I asked about going and they said as it was 6 months I should be ok. I am getting a bit anxious which won't help but wondered if anyone else had gone away long haul after 6 months. Thanks for your help Tina

Thank you I think as mine happened 24 hours after we landed that sticks in my head. I have to forget that and think I should be better now because of the stent.

I had a HA followed by a CA in March 16, 2 stents and a week in hospital, flew out to Florida with family June 16 with a bag of pills, the only part that was hard was walking the parks and feeling tired but did it with rest periods. go enjoy and take time out when you feel it.

Thank you for your advice its reassuring to know others have done it. I know we are all different but think I'd be more stressed if I didn't go as the grandchildren are so excited.

My job involved 2 long haul flights to China a month. After my heart attack my doctor and my consultant did not allow me to fly for 6 months. After this no problem. And I never did have a problem either. But ask you consultant as we are all different.

I had one stent fitted after a HA at the beginning of September. I went on a trip to Philadelphia in early October without any problems apart from some extra tiredness. I was on cardiac rehab programme at the time and did check with them first. Their advice was to go for it, just allow extra time at the airport so as to avoid unnecessary stress. I hope you have a wonderful trip!
