Hi Trevor,

I was diagnosed with AF in 2017 following an appointment with a new chiropodist who did a doplar test on my feet. I was put on anticoagulants and in June this year I was diagnosed with heart failure. When I was in hospital I had a cardioversion to correct this. This was successful and my heart was still in the correct rhythm when I saw the Cardiologist at my follow up visit.

AF is normally constant /persistent unless corrected.

However u can have Paroxysmal AF which is short episodes of AF. Sometimes this can be corrected by medication or other methods. While experiencing episodes u are at risk of stroke due to pooling of blood in the heart.

I have AF permanently. I am unsuitable for a pacemaker for some reason. I take Warfarin and cope quite well as long as I go with the flow and take things easily.

I had af from june3 till I had my cardioversion on 20 Dec and is a success. I do feel loads better now and didn't realise I was so poorly. I m so glad I had the cardioversion.

I was similar - 5 1/2 months of AF. I finally had cardioversion, but never understood why they waited so long to give it to me.

Yes in answer to your question - for about 15 years on and off and mostly on or in AF.

Luckily my symptoms are mild and I try to follow doctors orders, taken the meds and try to keep healthy!
