I have been called in for a percutaneous revascularisation. Has anybody else had experience of this procedure please? Are there any problems to it.

Thank you Anthony Butler.

Is it a PCI that you are going to have ?? If so this is done by stenting as far as I understand. There maybe other ways but, other people may be able to offer more information. !!

Best Regards

Thanks Prada47 for your reply. PCI is not mentioned in the letter. but 'in the form of a compex CTO' is. I am thinking that I aught to find out what CTO means.

Thanks again Anthony.

CTO is Chronic Total Occlusion - i.e. a blocked artery.

Hello and welcome to the forum! The phrase they have used means no more than angioplasty with stent insertion.. This should help significantly with issues like angina although you will need a few weeks to recover fully.

The use of alternative terms for the same thing can be annoying and even confusing. One person kept referring to my *cabbage". I hate the stuff and much prefer bypass as it also describes the process.

Hi Michael

My bypass was also referred to as a " cabbage " by a Nurse in Cardiology !!!

I have a CTO in my RCA which can't be fixed by a PCI, but I did have a PCI to clear a blockage in my LAD even after it had been Cabbaged LOL

Best Regards

A "brussel sprout" would be worse! :)

Cabbage = Coronary Artery Bypass Graft.

If you have blocked arteries I recommend that you watch the film "Forks Over Knives". It is on Netflix and YouTube. It is about global medical research, including a massive study of 800,000 Chinese people. You might find it helpful, I did. It will show you that you can clear out your arteries. In the film, there is a bloke with 27 diseases. After 6 months on a WFPB diet he was down to 1.

My cardiologist didn't say when he was threading the stent through my veins " You know, just change to a WFPB diet and we wouldn't need to bother with this " I wouldn't believe a word the Chinese say, and I worked in China for almost 2 years !! Really I admire your faith in the diet, but it's not for me, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else without the caveat don't stop anything else you are doing and just rely on WFPB.

It has been proven to reverse heart disease. Ornish, D., Brown, S.E., Scherwitz, L.W., Billings, J.H., Armstrong,W.T., Ports, T.A., McLanahan, S.M., Kirkeeide, R.L., Brand, R.J. and Gould, K.L. 1990. Can lifestyle changes reverse coronary heart disease? The Lifestyle Heart Trial. Lancet. 336 (8708) 129-133.

For my part: I have been on the diet since March 2018. The ideal BP is below 140/90. Mine has been as high as 240/140 but went down to 190/100 with treatment. I still had a mini-stroke in 2017 though. It is now 120/80. I keep a daily record and these are the averages, rounded up.

The ideal cholesterol is below 5. Mine was 6.5 for years, nothing budged it until this diet. It is now 3.7.

My weight was 14.5st and is now 12.5st, the same as when I was in my twenties.

It is all about nutrition. In all the training that doctors have they get 1 or 2 weeks on nutrition. So doctors don't know about the WFPB diet. See also Plant-based health professionals, UK on Facebook.
