Sleepwalking

Hi everyone,

Since I was put on Bisoprolol and Atorvastatin at New Year I have been sleepwalking, not every night. This doesn't appear to be a known side effect of the tablets. Worryingly, it happened on a cruise we went on in June. I was actually walking in the corridor of the ship. We are going on a North Sea ferry tomorrow.

Has anyone else experienced sleepwalking while on these tablets?

Asked "Dr. Google" and got these:

I don't mind sleep walking at home, it gives the wife some laughs, but we are on a ship tomorrow night. Any suggestions?

Tie you down to the bed :-) Joking aside, I assume you have had a discussion with your GP about this. I can't believe that adding sleep walking to your list of ills is what was intended when these drugs were prescribed

I can't get in to see a doctor today but phoned a Pharmacist. She advised to take my bet blocker in the morning instead of in the evening. My problem with this is that I experience side effects (tiredness, dizziness, loss of balance) if I take them in the morning.

Jimmy,

I thought I'd reply to your post as I take the two drugs you've mentioned. I'm happy to report that I don't go sleep walking!

What I have noticed since being a member of this forum though is that many people have reported differing problems with their prescribed drugs which disappeared when they were given alternatives.

Ask your GP if you could try something else. Even if the sleep walking persists then at least you are part way to figuring what is or what isn't the culprit.

Alec.

Hi, never had the sleep walking problems, but did have very vivid dreams.it was like having the realism of a nightmare, but not a scary dream. I believe similar symptoms are normal from the meds combination.

Oh yes, I get the dreams. This is the next level.

Thankfully not.

For safety you should seek some advice about this.

I would be worried in case I mis behaved

I took these tablets at tea-time yesterday and didn't sleep walk last night. The wife has decided to barricade me in the cabin on the ship with noisy things.

Update: My doctor has taken me off the statin because of all the side effects I am having and because my cholesterol is down to a good level (2.7).

I didn't sleep walk while we were away but I did the night we got back.

As my heart rate is down in the 50s she is going to look at taking me off the bisoprolol next month, if all is OK. We have a few doctors at the surgery but she wants to take my case on board so that I get consistency of diagnosis and treatment.

Having read a few posts on here from people who have stopped drinking, I have decided to dry out for a month. I will report back.
