Any similar experience, I wonder? I am (was) booked for a MRCP at the Royal Free. I thought I might check that my ICD was MRI-compatible (as was confirmed to me at the time of implantation).
Anyway, the senior MRI nurse has apologised that they don't deal with ICD-fitted patients any more, as they have an acute shortage of cardio-physiologists to turn the ICD off and back on before and after the procedure.
Rather surprised!

Hi Michael. Thanks for your reply. Apparently the lead MRI nurse will inform Hepatology (who arranged this) and Cardiology. And she suggests that they will organise some other forms of test.
I was given to understand at my pre-procedure pep-talk that the ICD was MRI-compatible. Hmmm. I'm relaxed about it, but will press for more info from one of my consultants. I should add that I have been a patient there for eight years, and generally, the R Free has been brilliant.
Agreed Michael. Crazily busy, though. Attendance at every Clinic resembles a rugby scrum. But, I definitely think the RF has got their act together over the last 2/3 years. Unlike the local GP surgerys ... disinterested and unknowledgable doctors, rude reception staff, and don't try getting through on the phone ..... Local pharmacists, on the other hand, are a really good source of advice.
