Hi, I had a heart attack on December 28 last year, has a stent fitted and have been fine since up until about a week ago (beginning of July). I've started having like a dull ache in my chest that's there almost constantly. I spoke to my consultant, who said he's not worried, but he didn't actually do any tests? I on the other hand, am quite concerned... I may be a worrywort, but any unexplained chest pain/ache after a heart attack six months ago is a bit disconcerting! I'm almost 54 and on Ticagrelor, aspirin, bisoprolol, atorvastatin and lansoprazole. Am I right to be worried? Should I insist on having some tests done? I fly to Croatia at the end of the month, is this at risk? Thanks in advance, Jules x

Hi Jules. I think it would be good to speak to your GP as it may not be heart related. Even if it is they can order echocardiogram or ECG. It could be meds or gastric. So It will be important to sort before your holiday. Hope it is sorted soon. Take care. Zena

Hello Jules and welcome to the forum.

I would go along with other posters which suggested that its best to discuss the symptoms with the GP/Cardiologist and seek their advice. There are so many variables which can cause the symptom and many are documented here so i don’t know if anyone can/able to give a conclusive answer and as we all know no single solution fits all, unfortunately.

All the best.

Hi ya, unfortunately I say going to the gp is waisting time if he says not to worry . Personally I’d go to A&E and explain what’s happening and they’d take it from there .Been there my self and it helped a lot.

Take care

Update on my original comment. I rang the cardiac unit where I'd been taken to when I had my heart attack at Xmas, they advised me to come in. I did and went through the usual barrage of tests. They were absolutely lovely with me, constantly reassuring me that I wasn't wasting their time. After my bloods came back fine I was allowed home with the reassurance that my heart was fine, and advised to see my gp to find out the cause of my pain. I feel 100% better now that I have been assured it's not my heart!! I would advise anyone who is unsure to go to their local cardiac unit, they truly would rather you saw them and find out there's nothing wrong, than ignore it or put off and be ill (or worse!), and you will feel so much better - there's nothing worse then not knowing. Thankyou everyone for your comments😊

In my experience if you think somethings wrong there could well be as you know your own body . Getting checked is what you need to do . My stents closed over after y months and was told it was in my head a double heart bypass later it clearly wasn't all in my head . Good luck and hope all is fine .
