Confused.....

Hi all! Hope you are all well ! Had my first review appointment with the cardiologist last week to discuss the results of my MRI and CT scans. Unfortunately the CT results had been reported on yet so still awaiting those, anyway, he told me I had 1 stage Dilated Cardiomyopathy ( which he’d pretty much told me when I was admitted to hospital 10weeks ago) , I’d prepared a list of questions, but he did say they couldn’t find the cause of it, and because with the meds I was pretty much symptomless he would review me again in 3/4 months! No mention of my EF , which when I was admitted was 20/25 % . I was annoyed with myself for for not asking him about it. He’s putting me in contact with the community heart nurses to up my meds gradually as I’m on a low dose. So how do I find out the cause as I’m worried that it may be genetic? And how do I find out if my EF has got any better? Feel like I’m in limbo again! Many thanks!

Fi ❤️😊

Hi Fi. Good that you had your review shame you didn’t ask about the EF. Suggest you discuss with the nurse when they get in touch they should have access to your electronic notes so should be able to find the information. Also maybe you could phone your consultant’s secretary and ask the questions on your behalf. You could send the consultant a letter prior to your next appointment so that they are prepared with answers at your next consultation. Also when you attend an appointment the receptionist asks if you want a copy of the letter that goes to your GP I always say yes. When the letter goes to your GP book an appointment to discuss with them as well. Hope all this helps. Do take care and look after yourself. Zena

Thanks Zena! Still a bit of a learning curve I suppose. I did ask for a copy of my GPs letter so hopefully that’ll come through either today or tomorrow. You think you’re prepared with all the questions, then as soon as you get home you think of more! X

It might be worth giving the BHF nurses a call as they are very knowledgeable.
