I am 65, diagnosed with high blood pressure. Been keeping it down by walking everyday and spin bike. Occasionally my BP will spike for a while but go back down. I need to lose at least 50 lbs.

Hello. Brilliant that you’re exercising every day. Lose the weight slow and steady. I had a heart attack in June last year and subsequently lost 32kgs over about 40 weeks. So it was 1-2lbs per week which is recommended to maintain the weight loss. Keep on going keep focused and stay strong. Take care. Zena

If you are considering life style changes, I would recommend that you watch the film "Forks Over Knives". It is on Netflix and YouTube. It is about global medical heart research and the findings, including a massive study of 800,000 Chines people. You might find it helpful, I did.
