Hi folks, I had a ct colonography checking for bowel cancer and although that has come back ok, the consultant has written that I have pericardial effusion. Can anyone shed any light on this or direct me to a reputable specialist website please? Hope you are all relatively well today. Xx

Wikipedia, webmd and mayo clinic are all good sites. Just type in your condition to google and these sites will come up. As always, anything from the NHS is also worth reading.

Thanks. Yes I've looked at these sites. I've also just signed up for a free 7 day trial with the bmj and bnf. So I'm going to be practically a gp by the end of the week......sorry, poor humour.lol. My gp has made an urgent referral to cardiology so hopefully I'll get some answers soon. It's more the worry of what the cause is for me. X

Had one after my aortic valve change, build up of blood in the sack surrounding the heart, cured by draining with a needle, or in my case 3 weeks of steroids to clear it as I am on warfarin.
