Has anyone who has previously suffered occasional migraines found their meds make them more frequent, I’ve been on my meds for nearly 2 weeks and have had migraine or constant aura every day! My go change me from ramapril to lisiprisol to see if that would help.... No headache but still have the flashing lights on my right eye, he sent me to eye casualty on Friday for test but came back fine xx

Which meds are you on ? some can cause headaches, but gradually get better after a few weeks, however, we are all different and react differently to meds, I had bad headaches after taking Isosorbide Mononitrate [ for angina pain ] but they gradually disappeared .

I’m on furosemide, bisopernol, lisinopril and another water tablet beginning with E 🙄

I see your GP has already changed one of your tablets, and you say no headaches, but flashing lights, may be you need to give them a little longer, but go back to your GP if no better, sometimes it can take several changes of meds. to get the right one, I tried quite a lot for my blood pressure, at the moment I'm taking Ramipril, so far so good.

For me it is the other way round.

A life long migraine sufferer (3 - 4 attacks a month). Now only 2 in two years.

I take Amlodopine and Isosorbide Mononitrate and one of those two seems to be an amazing migraine cure.

That’s fantastic! I know Betablockers are said to be good for them..... god knows why I’m getting more of them 🙁

I found that straight after my valve replacement surgery the frequency of migraines increased significantly but now (7 months later) they are far less frequent (maybe 1 or 2 per fortnight) and don't last for too long either ( ususally less than 10 mins) but if they persist I take 1 ibuprofen which tends to clear it.

Hi Stevegg

Are you taking warfarin after your valve replacement? I take warfarin and have been advised by the clinic nurse to avoid NSAIDs such as Ibuprofen as they can increase the risk of bleeding.

I suffer from migraines and find most painkillers have no effect at all.

Hi, thanks for the advice but no I am not on warfarin as I had a biological (bovine) valve replacement but I do know that I also have to be careful not to take too many ibuprofen etc. but I was advised that if its only one every 10 days or so then it shouldn't be a problem.

Lifelong migraine sufferer since teenage years, had all the classic symptoms and some symptoms in addition that are fairly unusual. Surprised recently to find I had CHD which resulted in meds and 4xCABG which has been 100% successful. Haven't had a single migraine attack since meds commenced which is amazing and cannot be coincidental. In addition to surgery, I take 2.5mg bisoprolol, 75mg aspirin, 40mg atorvastatin and 75mg clopidogrel. Will cease Clopidogrel in a couple of months so that will be the first change to monitor. Hope the new status quo continues and I hope you find a solution to your migraines.

That’s good news! My Dr has changed my BP med to Candesartan , he had spoken to a Registar in the Neurology dept and they’d had some good results with it, and so far it’s doing ok, my migraines have settled down and I don’t have the constant flashing, there is still some minor visual disturbance but hopefully they will improve also! Fingers crossed!
