Subarortic membrane?

Hi I was told that I had hcm open having a cardiac mri scan I was told I have subaortic membrane? Anyone shed some light on this what this is? Or what to expect from this? I’ve got to have a tube down my throat and have a ultra scan on it??

In Nov. last year I had a double bypass, aortic valve repair and removal of a sub-aortic membrane.

Sub-aortic membrane (SAM) is a form of fixed sub-aortic obstruction in which a fibrous membrane is located below the aortic valve. It will depend on the size of the membrane whether anything needs doing.

In my case I was diagnosed with a murmur as a child and with a leaky aortic valve in my 20s.

Investigations then revealed the SAM which was small but causing the blood hitting the valve to be turbulent. Fast forward 40 years and the valve was prolapsing and hence the repair and removal of the SAM.

In your case the tests will verify the size of the membrane and the condition of your Aortic valve.
