Hello No personal experience of the Golden Jubilee only a Cardiologist from the Jubilee was working at our Hospital when waiting lists got out of hand ! All I can offer is that he was very good, easy to talk to and left me feeling as though it mattered to get me right !!

Anyone who I have spoken to always say how good the Jubilee is and that it is a bit like a good Hotel for accommodation.

I know if I still lived in Scotland I would opt for the Jubilee before my local hospital

Best Regards

Hi. No experience of bypass surgery (at Jubilee or anywhere else) but lots of experience of other procedures at the Jubilee and I can't recommend them highly enough. I have never met a member of staff who was anything less than excellent and I have always felt safe in their hands, even during very scary times. And the hospital itself is beautiful - so clean and modern and luxurious. Good luck with everything :)

Hi thanks for your reassuring comments. I know so far I have had a good experience when having test etc. Never been in hospital for an operation never mind a major one, on the one hand I am lucky in that I have not needed to be in hospital, on the other hand this makes the prospect even more scary. I will put my trust in the professionals and hope for the best.

I really appreciate the advice from those on this forum 😊

I spent a couple of days in intensive care at the Jubilee (after my daughter was delivered there under general anaesthetic) and for a couple of weeks after that I stayed on a ward. That was my first time in hospital too - bit of a baptism of fire but I was so well looked after. I went back a couple of years later to have my device fitted and spent the night in another ward. Had very positive experiences in all three locations and the nursing staff were excellent in terms of explaining everything that was going on. The pre-op procedure is very thorough, just make sure you have all your questions noted down before you go in. Surgery is always nerve-racking but you'll be having it in one of the best places.

Not bypass but in November I had ohs to close two ASDs ( hole in the heart ) at GJ. Although daunting going in for major surgery everyone I met was fantastic and as Laura said make you feel in safe hands. Hospital is lovely - we stayed the night before in the adjoining hotel as had to travel. Even the food was good ! You'll probably be on the same ward as I was afterwards and a lot of the rooms have a lovely view of the river. I found it really calming just looking out of the window between walks round the ward with the physio !

Oh that's good to have a positive opinion from someone who has been through major operation, thank you for your response and I hope my experience is as good as yours. Much appreciated

When I replied to your other post I mentioned my earlier post and now see it’s not there! You probably thought – he’s been on the anginal whiskey! There was nothing contentious so I suspect there was internet server glitch.

I have no personal experience of the Jubilee but had a look at the Google reviews. It does really well compare to the three main hospitals near me. There are very positive reviews in many areas; cardiac through orthopaedic to ophthalmology. So, to me, it looks as if you are in good hands. I hope the procedure goes smoothly!

Hi lol technology isn't always our friend. Yea I have had a look at the reviews and actually there are a couple of videos featuring the professor who is doing my op, he also specialises in heart transplants so I'm pretty sure he knows his anatomy!! Still waiting on a date which is not helping my anxiety but I'm trying my best to be positive
