Can't believe I still have pleurisy 3 months post surgery. Different antibiotics, this is slowing down my recovery. Quite painful. Anyone else have this?

Hi Twobells, I am sorry to hear that, not had that but my father in law had exactly the same couple of months post his surgery a number of years ago. He recovered slowly and yes put his recovery back. As an FYI, his op was when he was 67, alas we lost him last year aged 90

Thanks for the reply, its just a pain. Sorry to hear about your father in law. It helps knowing that he managed 23 years after surgery. It;s never easy living with the trauma of this surgery. I am normally a happy go lucky person, but this has really knocked me for six. Not getting any support from GP, so I just plod along best as I can.

Yup I get the no help peice too, hence why I come here and try and talk about my experience in the hope it helps others. Certainly I think it helps me as to begin with I wasn't coping very well

Hi Twobells, I can't help you I'm afraid but echo the problem with some GP's.

The hospital nurses and rehab nursing staff were excellent but once you are out of that circle and in the hands of the GP it seems the level of care is a bit of a lottery. The problem with such things is that having a medical professional seemingly have no idea what to do creates huge amounts of additional stress, which is about as counter productive as they can be. Madness really. Like Skid, that's why I'm on here as well.. to hopefully help people who aren't as far down the line and worry about the same things I did. The worries continue but they change as you progress. Unfortunately there is no quick fix for any of this but it does get easier, it just takes time.

Hope things get better for you soon.

Thank you for this. Just get fed up being fobbed off. GP said I could do with physio on my lungs, but the time it could take it may well have cleared. Isaid I'll take my chance and if its cleared great I'll cancel, if not then I need the physio simple, lol

No problem Twobells. I can sympathise with you with regards to GP's. I'm on my third but have finally found one that I'm happy with.
