How nice to see all your animals displayed on the blogs, I do not keep any pets as I can't care for them as one ought too, especially if I had a dog I'd have to employ a dog walker. But pets are good company if you are on your own. Thank you for sharing your pets with us online

I understand what you are saying Katie, I know when we lost our last dog 14 months ago, I decided not to get another dog for that reason and it shows the kind of person you are, to put the needs of a potential pet before your own desire to have one.
My burmese are enough work for me
I too enjoy looking at each and every one of them

We have had so many pets over the years, lots of cats, a Springer, a goat (which use to come in the kitchen if we let her), daughters had rabbits & hamsters plus hens and a cockeral to name just a few. I miss having animals around, and I still miss our springer Toby so much.
Other half use to rear pheasant chicks, wasn't too happy about that can't see the point of rearing something to shoot.

Have to say I'm not keen on pets being raised for shooting purpose. But I guess it has to be done to suit others needs we are all different, it would be a funny world if we were not individual in our likes
I used to have 2 lovely dogs. Ben, a black Labrador and Sammy, a female Heinz 57. Both were rescue dogs.
Little Sammy, unknown to me already had parvovirus when I had her. She was extremely ill and it was thanks to my wonderful vets that she survived. It did leave her brain damaged though, so she was forever like a puppy. They said she could never learn to do things.
How wrong they were. She didn't learn from me, but when Ben sat, she did, when he lay down, she did. They were my best friends.
Ben died age 16 (amazing age for a lab), I was distraught. Worse was to come, poor Sammy pined for him. Despite the vets best efforts (they even put her on anti depressants!) she gave up, refused to move and eat. In the end, after trying for 6 months, the vet said it was cruel to try any more, so she was put to sleep, also 16.
I have not had any more dogs, partly as they are a tie, and we do like to go away (I would never put them in kennels) but mainly because I didn't want to go through that heartbreak again.
