New Hospital: off for a first... - Lung Conditions C...
New Hospital
I am likewise to attend a new hospital for some tests, unrelated to COPD. I got an appointment letter last Tuesday for an appointment on 29th. It said to ring to arrange transport asap. I rang. Nobody there to deal with it. Could I please ring later? I rang the following day and was put through to a voicemail. Left message. Friday I rang again and again got the voicemail so I rang the switchboard again and said I had already left a message and needed to talk to someone as the letter did say asap. They said they would pass it on and have the relevant person ring me back. They did not ring so I rang again on Monday. Medsage was left again on voicemail and with switchboardn. Still no reply. Then a secretary rang me today to ask why I had not rung to arrange transport? It turned out the person who had signed the letter and had all the messages left for her was on leave. I booked the transport. 15 minutes later they rang back to say the doctor was not actually in that day and they would write to me with a new appointment. Hope your day is less frustrating!
Good luck poeticlady sure you'll be home long before that by teatime hopefully if you get your point across ok. I spoke to a new (to me anyway) nurse at my surgery yesterday and went on at such a length because I knew she had a knowledge of asthma that she more or less told me there wasn't much wrong with me as I was talking so much without stopping for breath. You can't win -well you can if you don't exhaust yourself trying.
Well was pleasantly suprised with the new consulant, the down side was he feels i'm having asthma attacks while asleep, but fortunately for me ,i wake up,ok not breathing ,but aware of whats going on,he took blood tests, breathing tests ,x-ray.and ordered a ct scan,i have muscle wasting, due to long term steriod dependancy, and cushing sydrome ?.so got a few new happy pills, and was home after 3 hours.go back n 1 month time,to see if the new meds have helped my night time choking.
