Ventolin is only a symptom releiver, if it makes you dizzy return to your GP. Speaking from experience of four years, and still with a permenant cough must say everyone is different and basic ventolin does not work for all, good luck with a suitable alerternative for your needs

My Ventolin says "take two metered puffs when required", I use it only when I need to, although that is a few times a day. I normally use mine if I've been walking about the place, or have been upstairs, as that's when I tend to be short of breath (SOB).

Although your doctor has prescribed it as though you must take the doses as stated, it may not be helping and you should go back and tell them so if you're feeling dizzy.

I don't know what other medication/inhalers you have but the blue Ventolin is a 'reliever', usually given to relieve the symptoms of being short of breath. It's used for both COPD and Asthma. If you have a green or purple inhaler as well then you should be using that regularly, as that's a 'preventer' and should, in theory, reduce the need for the Ventolin.

Always best to speak to your GP about these things, but you can also get support from the BLF helpline or NHS Direct if you need a bit of peace of mind.

Can I suggest that the next time you see you doctor that you ask him to give you a prescription for a "spacer"

A paper on it's benefits:

google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j...

What they look like:

amazon.co.uk/Respironics-Op...

Unfortunately the large plastic chamber from:

xcellento.com/shop/customer...

Only shows the box! It is a large volume spacer made of two plastic hemispheres (easier to clean).

The Respironics OptiChamber, plays a (musical) note for you if you inhale incorrectly (too quickly).

Your doctor will advise; if it has been prescribed for you it's important you take it or talk with your doctor.
