Hi how do you find out what your sats are, I was diagnosed last year with emphysema and have been feeling quite depressed about it.

Hello maggiegirl :) Sorry you're feeling depressed about your diagnosis, but honestly this condition can be managed quite well with the appropriate treatment. If you are curious as to what your sats are your doctor should have an oxymeter (the little gadget that fits on the end of your finger) to measure this. You can also buy one for yourself if you wish. Just Google 'oxymeter'.....

In the meantime, try to maintain a more positive attitude (I know this can be easier said than done) and you'll find that, providing you know your limits, you'll be able to continue a relatively normal life :)

Hi there maggie, I bought my own oxymeter some time ago and must admit at first I was a bit obsesive with it, but after a short while I got to know what a normal reading for me was (we are all different) so now I only use it if I am feeling more short of breathe than normal and unwell, it has given me some pease of mind so might be a good idea for you to purchase one anyway good luck stay positive and stay in touch.

Regards Linda
