40% kidney capacity

Hi there. I did look at your bio but there was no information. Do you also have lung issues or just kidney? What lead up to your diagnosis? What have the doctors said? Are you seeing a specialist ? What has been their advice? Are you on a kidney friendly diet? What is your water intake daily? Are you limiting your sodium intake? What is your age? Do you have diabetes? Sorry for the many questions. Knowing more of your situation would be helpful.
Sorry for late reply. So your one kidney would be operating at 40% and that would indicate probably CKD (cronic Kidney Disease) Stage 3 possable stage 3 B - The same as I have with two kidneys, Alternates between A and B,
I am not a doctor but posting from my experince, so that is IMO.
Hi, I had a Kidney removed in 1991 (not cancerous) and have lead decent life since then. I have had regular blood tests until 3 years back when I changed doctors. The new GP surgery missed a few blood checks but it never crossed my mind as I still work at 73 years old and am fairly fit and was getting on with life. It was a blood test for something else that highlighted the issue. What I’m wanting to know from my GP is when the deterioration started and why has it deteriorated to 40% without anyone informing me. I was discharged by the original consultant back in 1991 and was told at that stage my single kidney was very healthy with no issues.
I can see your point, missed blood test and then CKD shows. I started CKD about 1990 and it varies, I started with stage one. so the advance is slow. Stage 3 is not as bad as it may seem. I have had blood test with protine in the blood, then in 6 months it had gone,
I think you new GP with the mist tests has wrong footed you as you did not expect to show 40% - Although your 40% can fluctuate back upwards, CKD is not always static.
I think you should see your new GP and get your questions answered. One thing what was your previous percentsage and how long before it was 40% - Good luck I have have CKD Stage 3 for quite a while. so it's a slow deteriation.
