Glad you don't mind my pedantry. I looked up the butterfly in my little butterfly book, because I'm not a butterfly expert. It's a pearl bordered fritillary, definitely not the sort to come to a back garden. Much easier to identify from your gorgeous photograph than seeing it fluttering about in the field. There are 2 species, the pb frit and the small pb frit, only distinguished if you can see their underwings. Thank goodness-really it's just nice to see a beautiful butterfly. xxxx

Wonderful photos BB they are joy to see on another dull and dreary. Morning here in Manchester and although cold I have been suffering cold sweats for a few weeks so not complaining too much x
Beautiful butterfly. We've been in Norfolk these last two weeks (home tomorrow π).Last week I went to Hickling Broad and saw a Swallowtail butterfly, unfortunately it didnβt settle at all so no photo. I did manage to take a photo of the Norfolk Hawker dragonfly, not very close up though. Again, it didnβt settle.
Hope you had the best holiday...always so sad to leave a holiday behind when you go home ....Thankyou ever so much safe travels home and isn't nature the best π
What a beautiful butterfly! We have dozens of caterpillars eating nettles across the road from our house. Amazing to see and will soon become Peacock butterflies.
