Hi hypercat54, I applied recently for a COPD trial at Synexus Midlands and after taking all my health issues I ended up with a trial to test a drug for weight loss. Side effects being stroke and heart attacks , so beware not all these research projects are safe. And may give false results if the person has other health issues. At the bottom in small print it said this trial will not effect any benefits you receive. But it might put you 6ft under in my opinion long before your time. Heres another one my GP surgery says I should try statins to keep my heart healthy. The NHS and patient leaflets say not suitable for over 70s or people with certain other illness of which I have at least one plus I am over 70. Beware in my experience people listen too close to what the government advises NHS staff for patient health and some DRs do not take into account the personal patient health history on occassions.

Good to read Bev and gives hope to people that the future could offer a medication that works. There hasnt been much improvement in lung medication for a long time so am sure it would be welcome. Thanks for sharing x

"Just 20 patients took part in the preliminary trial," Unfortunately not a proper research study yet. So has a long way to go. Looks like it could be the way forward but we cannot let a trial on 20 people be even slightly encouraging

NHS clinical Trials Criteria

The medicine is tested in larger groups of people who are ill, and compared against an existing treatment or a placebo to see if it's better in practice and if it has important side effects. Trials often last a year or more and involve several thousand patients.

Yes I know but it could provide a bit of hope for the future.

Are you ok? Haven't seen you for ages.

Nothing much changed my end. Except my joints are giving me some grief got to have more x-rays as they say my bones are thinning? I noticed on my NHS app it states I have Osteoporosis? But never been told that to my face? Off to Sheffield for more tests for my IPAH soon. So a round trip of 196 miles :( .
